Register High School Youth to Attend SPEC

SPECTACULAR (SPEC) is an annual event hosted by Community of Christ at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa for high school youth. SPEC is an intentional sacred community that values God with us, relationships, worth of all people, growth & risk, a safe place, and blessing.

Activities and events offered in previous years included the following: 3-D Printing, Acrylic Painting, Golf, Celebration & Worship, Ceramics, Knotting, EmpowHER, eSports, Fairy Gardens, Fly Fishing & Tying, Free Listening, Glass Etching, Glass Fusion, Loom Knitting, Mixed Media, Performing Arts, Pyrography, Residing in the Rhythm, School of Rock, SPEC Book Club, Sun Prints, Yoga & Mediation, Basketball, Softball, Soccer, Volleyball, Quiz Bowl, Pickleball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Wrestling, Track Meet, 5K Run/Walk, and more!

Participation in SPEC is through regional delegations sponsored by local Community of Christ Mission Centers. The Michigan Mission Center SPEC Delegation is led by Danny LaBrecque (n1990dpotter@gmail.com or 269-501-0889) and Charlie Kuhn (ckuhn18@gmail.com or 248-505-0462). In 2024 the Michigan SPEC Delegation will be gathering the evening of Friday, July 12 for travel to Lamoni and returning to Michigan the evening of Saturday, July 20.

There is no set fee to join the Michigan SPEC Delegation in 2024. Participants are encouraged to generously give to meet delegation expenses. The cost for one camper will be about $500 ($425 SPEC fee plus travel, uniforms, equipment, snacks, supplies, laundry, etc.) Expenses beyond generous donations will be covered by Michigan Mission Center designated funds.
