Many congregations periodically have dinners, so this week’s Leading Mission Tip may be particularly welcomed. It’s called “Sharing in the Round,” which can include not only eating, but also reflection and conversation about how the congregation can engage further in mission in its neighborhood. Some possible steps could include these:
(1) Invite people to “become vulnerable … and become family, friends, community …” Words that can be shared: “We gather here, not because we are strong, but because here, we find strength. We gather not because we are worthy, but because we are welcomed. We gather not because we are entitled, but because by grace we are invited.”
(2) Share in singing, such as “Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow” (CCS 53)
(3) Share these questions for reflection and discussion:
Can we slow our lives down enough to sit with God and listen?
When have you experienced the opportunity to do this?
Did you hear anything from your soul?
