Summer Youth Camps

Youth Camps are planned to allow opportunities for all youth to make lasting memories as they experience God in a safe, peace-building community, while enjoying nature, fun, fellowship and friends. Campers develop as disciples through worship, learning, and adventure in a beautiful, inviting, and casual setting.

All Community of Christ Campgrounds in Michigan are licensed and inspected by local health departments, and camp programs are licensed and inspected by the Michigan Department Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. All youth camps are staffed by individuals who are Community of Christ Registered Youth Workers and pass a criminal background checks and child abuse registry clearance.

A 10% discount is available when registering two weeks prior to the first day of camp.  Scholarship applications to assist first time campers and returning campers with financial need are available.

Michigan Delegation to Spectacular at Graceland

SPECTACULAR is a camp for youth who have completed grades 9-12 dedicated to creating a safe, Christ-centered community where teens can discover God, their inherent worth, and share their giftedness. The camp is sponsored by Community of Christ and hosted each July in Lamoni, Iowa on the campus of Graceland University.  Funding is included in the Michigan Mission Center budget to provide transportation by bus from various congregation sites in Michigan.

During SPECTACULAR approximately 1,100 campers and their leaders gather at Graceland University for the largest annual gathering of youth in Community of Christ. All campers will have opportunities to participate in leadership and  discipleship development, diverse worship, and expression of arts, music, and sports.

During the week campers can look forward to sharing in all avenues of the SPEC  experience – service projects, communication workshops, basketball, musical  instruction, table tennis, stage production, worship, delegation devotions, volleyball, tie-dying, cotton candy, discussions about dating and relationships, learning more about our Creator, soccer, and much, much more.

Youth Venture for Christ (Ventures)

Ventures is a disciple and leadership development ministry focused on 9th -12th grade youth.  Youth and staff meet on weekends at various congregations in the mission center to learn, fellowship, serve, and provide a vibrant worship experience for the local congregation. On Friday night time is spent getting to know new and old friends as well as worshipping and going over the weekend’s events. On Saturday youth spend time in classes, worshipping, and a majority of time is spent planning and rehearsing the worship. Sometimes a talent show (so come prepared) and visiting session with those in the congregation is planned. There is also an activity like bowling or skating that occurs on Saturday. On Sunday, the youth provide a worship experience for the congregation and then cleanup and debrief. Then it is off to Pizza Hut or some other restaurant for lunch and goodbyes.

North Star

North Star is a youth group for those in grades 8-12 in the Michigan Mission Center. The purpose of the group is to train youth in ways to become a Missional Church through education, service, fellowship and worship in ways that involve youth, interacting with others of all ages in ways that makes the ministry and mission of Jesus Christ real for everyone.

Youth involved in North Star will find opportunities to learn about the Mission of Jesus and how they can be a part of living out that mission today in a way that makes a real difference in their lives and in the lives of those around them. There will be opportunities to have fun together, serve others together, worship together and learn together as each one responds to the call to share the Good News with others.

If you are in grades 8-12, please join us. Please follow us on our Facebook Group “North Star.”

Local Congregation Youth Ministries

Youth ministry events are also planned by local congregations.  These events include weekly classes, youth worship, social activities, retreats, camps, and more.  Find a congregation near you to learn what is available for youth in your area.
